December ODBD Challenge

Gosh, it's been a while.  What a crazy busy fall it's been.  Between a family vacation to the beach, birthdays and that little month-long trip I took to Africa, I haven't had time.  I'll post on all that at some other time. Since I last posted an ODBD Challenge for Operation Write Home, I'll begin again with December's OWH.  December's Challenge is to use primary colors (red, yellow, and blue).  So here's my card

I used:
Paper: Paper Tray Ink
Ink: Simon Says Stamp Schoolhouse Red, Island Blue, Lemon Chiffon
Stamp: AltNew Superscript 2, Hero Arts Tiny Flags
Die cut star with glossy accents.

July ODBD Challenge

I'm a bit late to the party and there are already over 50 cards, but I just have to participate in this months challenge. July's challenge is "Things With Wings".  I think a bigger challenge for me would be to make a card without a feather, bird, or owl!
So here's my submission

I used Art Impressions Birthday Whoot and colored with PrismaColor.
Paper is from We R Memory Keepers Feelin' Groovy.

Watercolor Cards

Seems like watercolors are all the rage these days.  I decided to try my hand at a few techniques I saw on Pinterest.

I just swept some similar colors in stripes across some watercolor paper. I Die cut a star and used Hero Arts OWH fundraiser set Year Round Sentiments.

I tried something a bit different with this one.  I wet embossed a feather stamp, heat set then ran some watercolor paint across.  The sentiment is also from Hero Arts Year Round Sentiments.

With this one, I stamped Wplus9 feathers with some Distress Inks and ran a wet brush up to fill the top corner with color.  I used a distress tool on the edges of the square and added some enamel dots.

OWH Sketch #225

I don't usually have much mojo to complete the OWH Sketches on Sundays...afterall it's my Monday.  But I really want to complete my OWH box soon. I'm just not fond of doing multiples of the same card and with all the extracurriculars I'm involved in, I don't have the time to get a lot done.  Today I committed to doing the sketch (and make my current box and even 50 cards). With the mojo and motivation, I still struggled.  First I spilled some red wine and got some on the white card base.  Then when I was scoring the replacement base, I scored in the wrong place.  After all that, I completed the sketch.

Here's Sketch #225

Cards from 6X6 Paper Pad

Confession: I've been a little obsessive about 6X6 paper pads lately.  All the matchey, pretty paper in one little package.  What's not to love?
Using Seongsook's tutorial and templates to work through a We R Memory Keepers Feelin' Groovy paper stack, I created these cards for Operation Write Home.

Sketch 210 and ODBD February Challenge

To finish up Card Bowl 2014, I'm posting the last two cards for the challenge.
The first is for the ODBD Card Challenge for February.  We are to make a card with brown as the primary color and for the Card Bowl it must be masculine. Here's my card, which I used Sketch #201.
I used Ki Memories Metro Garden 6X6 paper, Hero Arts OWH "Dude" fundraiser set and Hero Arts Wet Cement Ink.

I decided to go very simple with this.  Again I used Ki Memories Metro Garden 6X6 paper, My Minds Eye enamel dots, the sentiment is from Hero Arts OWH "Year Round Sentiments" fundraiser set and Hero Arts Wet Cement Ink.

OWH Card Bowl 2014

Over at Operation Write Home, Sandy's started the Card Bowl 2014 which runs 3 challenges through the weekend.  Todays' challenge is to create a masculine card that somehow relates to the team that you're cheering for in the Super Bowl.  I'm a college football girl...I root for the SEC and I bleed Red and Black! I'm not a huge NFL fan except for the occasional cheer for the Falcons.  I honestly could give two flips about either of the teams in this years Bowl.  I have decided that I'd choose the Broncos over the Seahawks only because Knowshon Moreno and Champ Bailey are on the team.  And for those still not making a connection....those would be 2 incredible players from the University of (GO DAWGS) Georgia. Granted there is a UGA player on the Seahawks team, but their terrible colors dissuaded me.
My first instinct was to do a beer mug, but since this card is for OWH, that wouldn't be allowed.  I figured Red and Black (in support of Moreno and Bailey) would be too much of a stretch.  So flipping through my stamps, I came across a Flopsey Fishing set that I won from Sandy.  I figured I could incorporate the Broncos team colors on Flopsey's hat.  As I was coloring, I realized these colors are just to close to those of several UGA rival teams.  I tried to diminish the full effects of the offensive blue/orange combo by dulling it down a bit.  I guess its less offensive.

Still continuing to finish up My Minds Eye Darling Dear paper and Adirondack Mushroom ink for distressing.  I used a distressing tool to to rough up the edges of all the papers. I also got the idea of cutting Flopsey from Googling images and found Nancy Thomas.

Go DAWGS!

OSS Stencil Class Day 2

Another great day of information and tutorials!    Since I've been working and learning to color with colored pencils, I chose to mess around with the "Tracing" technique. Here's what I came up with:

The stencil is from SSS Chevron Pattern and I used Prismacolor Pencils.  The die cut arrow and sentiment are from My Favorite Things Right on Target.

OCC Stenciled Day 1

I decided to take the new Online Card Class: Stenciled.  The first day of class gave so many great ideas and tutorials.  The first I used the misting technique shown by Julie Ebersole, which is one I've never used before.  First, I had to create a mist since I did not have one.  A while back I got some Ranger Misters and used some Distress Ink reinkers to make my mist. I attached my stencil to the cardstock, placed in a cardboard box and sprayed over the stencil.  I think I was a little to heavy on the misting, but I'm happy with the results.

I heat embossed the feather and sentiment (hard to see in the pic) with WOW Metallic Silver embossing powder.
The feather stamp and "Just a note" sentiment is from Clearly Besotted's Fanciful Feathers.

Love You Tons!

I just love Lawn Fawn products! Their stamps and dies are just adorable! When they released Love You Tons, I had to have them.  I wanted to create something simple.  Here's my first card.

I colored the elephants with Prismacolor Pencils.  Popped the banner and heart with 3M and added Glossy Accents over the heart and exclamation mark.

My second card is slightly more complex.  I used OWH Sketch #86.
Paper is from My Minds Eye Darling Dear.  I colored the elephants with Prismacolor Pencils and used Sakura Glaze Pens for the faux stitching and to dot over the red circles in the patterned paper to create hearts.
